Two people were seriously injured when their car hit a telegraph pole and a tree early today.
The crash happened at around 2am on Tuesday (July 24). A Renault Clio left the road and hit the pole and tree on Ox Carr Lane at Strensall.
The occupants of the car, a 30-year-old man and 28-year-old woman, both from the York area, were hurt.
Fire crews from Huntington used cutting gear to release the male driver from the wreckage. Both the man and the woman were taken to hospital following the collision, and remain in a serious condition.
The road was closed to allow emergency services to attend to the casualties, examine the scene and to recover the vehicle. It reopened shortly after 9am.
North Yorkshire Police want to hear from anyone who was travelling through Strensall around that time and saw a blue Renault Clio leave the road at Ox Carr Lane after its junction with Moor Lane, or saw the Clio travelling in the direction of Strensall from Strensall Common.
