York’s branch of John Lewis has closed for the day after a power cut.
And it is not the only one – the outage at Vangarde Shopping Park has hit most of the retailers and cafés.
Only Marks & Spencer is still open, but there is ‘a restricted offer in the M&S Café’ says a notice on the shopping centre’s Facebook page.

Northern Powergrid is working hard to restore power as quickly as possible and updates will be provided in this thread.
We would like to thank you for your patience and hope to be back up and running as soon as possible – we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
A Northern Powergrid spokeswoman confirmed that just after 11am on Thursday (January 10) a power cut affected around 11 properties in the YO32 9 postcode area of York after another company inadvertently damaged an underground electricity cable.
“Our teams are carrying out repairs to our underground network and we are expecting power to be restored at around 6pm today,” she said.
“We’d like to thank our customers for their patience whilst our teams work to get the lights back on.”
