A woman was subjected to a serious sexual assault at a York hotel.
The woman, aged 32, was attacked in the early hours of Sunday, August 5 at the Holiday Inn on Tadcaster Road.
Detectives are trying to trace a potentially crucial witness.
The man pictured right, captured on CCTV, came to the aid of the victim.
Police are stressing that he is not a suspect in the investigation and he has not committed any offence related to the attack.
Provided reassurance
The man, who is believed to have been a guest at the hotel, came across the victim following the assault and provided reassurance until help arrived.
Officers would like to speak to him as they believe he could have important information that could assist the investigation.
He was wearing
- dark rimmed glasses
- blue jeans
- and a light coloured short sleeved shirt.
