It’s the easiest thing in the world to do – and some of you may have done just this.
You put your phone on the top of the car as you get back in, then forget its there and drive off.
One family have done just that – losing their iPhone at the side of the A64. But the loss is particularly poignant for them.
They contacted North Yorkshire Police for help with finding it. The force tweeted out:

This not something we would normally do but phone has messages from deceased partner.
The family have used the ‘Find my iPhone’ app to determine a rough location for the device.
Members of the public who offered to help in the search have been told thanks, but “the location is at the side or a dual carriageway. It’s more about safely getting to it as there’s no lay-by or hard shoulder.”
Police are going to look for it when there is less traffic.
