Emergency services combined to rescue a man from the river in York in the early hours today.
Fire crews from York and Acomb were called out at 3.43am on Thursday (16 May) after a young man fell into the River Foss.
He was initially held on to by a friend, and then by a police officer.
Firefighters used a triple extension ladder near to Carmelite Street to get to the man and pull him to safety.
He was checked over by paramedics at the scene and was transported to hospital by ambulance as a precaution.
