Balloons will be released close to the home of Katie Rough on what would have been her eighth birthday.
Katie died after being found with serious injuries in a field behind Alness Drive, Woodthorpe, on January 9.
The balloon release will take place on Monday (January 16) on Westfield Park next to Westfield Primary School, where Katie was a pupil.
Her family have asked people to meet at 3.30pm, with the balloons released at 4pm. The biodegradable balloons are being provided by Jayne Lawn of Balloons Above, a firm based in Strensall.
The number of balloons will be limited to 200 for environmental reasons. Members of her family in different parts of the country will be releasing some at the same time, including in Glasgow.
The family are also considering opening a book for people to write birthday messages to Katie.
Meanwhile the crowdfunding campaign for Katie’s family has reached £22,500.
