As one door to an Aladdin’s cave of sparkling crystal closes, another one opens…
Days after china and crystal specialist Mulberry Hall announced plans to close its Stonegate shop, the world’s “leading producer of precision-cut crystal” has opened a York store.
Swarovski is now planning an official launch on Saturday (January 23), offering customers refreshments as well as a special goody bag to celebrate the opening – while stocks last.
This Swarovski “partner boutique” is run by Gems York Ltd, a company set up in April with a head office address in Wolverhampton.

The two directors are Shaun Bell and Mike Shotton. They said:
Swarovski’s position as a truly global company made it an easy choice for us to open our first boutique with the brand.
Moreover, the crystal forest architecture concept makes the brand stand out and feel unique.
Premium jewellery and accessories brand Swarovski was launched in 1895 by a Bohemian businessman who invented a machine for cutting and polishing crystal jewellery stones.
It already has a store in York Designer Outlet. The Coney Street branch, found in the shop previously occupied by Hotel Chocolat, will stock figurines, jewellery, fashion accessories, sunglasses, watches and more.
The company said:
This latest partner boutique is located in one of York’s major shopping areas – benefitting from high footfall and a captive audience.
