The guide called Urban Cyclists was filmed in locations across the Yorkshire region and includes footage from the streets of York and aims to show people how to deal in a variety of situations that they might come across when cycling round the city.
With easy bite sized mini guides on different aspects including planning journeys, cycling on roundabouts and junctions it provides practical advice as well as handy hints and tips to help keep cyclists keep safe in city’s and built up areas.
Cllr Dave Merrett, Cabinet Member for Transport, Planning and Sustainability, said: “York remains one of the top cycling cities in the UK, supported by figures released by the Department for Transport in April, which ranks York as the third best cycling city in England. With more and more people choosing to cycle in York it’s important that practical information and advice is provided for people who get about by bike.”
The DVD also allows people to watch an expert cyclist, cycle in urban areas and provides them with tips and advice on what to look out for and be aware of on their daily commutes.
