Mysterious ‘Banksy’-style graffiti springs up in York overnight

Is it vandalism or is it art? Either way this rather striking graffiti has just appeared in a couple of spots in York.

The picture is of a child crouching and looking at the observer. Created via a stencil it resembles the style of famed street artist Banksy.

This image was spotted in two separate locations by Sam Rowntree on his way to work in York on Wednesday morning (October 28).

He told us:

They must have been done overnight. One is on a seat by the river and another under Skeldergate Bridge.

I wonder how many others were done around York?

**Update** – after we first posted this article, Cate Bell got in touch. She had spotted the pictures too, including this one on a river path bench near Blue Bridge Lane:
