£7 adults, £5 children, or £18 included a signed copy of The Butterfly Club
The creator of Tracy Beaker will be here next month to celebrate publication of her latest children’s book, The Butterfly Club.
Dame Jacqueline Wilson, to give the author her full title, will talk about her life and career in an event at St Peter’s School on Saturday, February 14.
Afterwards she’ll take questions from children. The event is organised by Waterstones York, and although there won’t be a book signing, pre-signed books will be on sale on the day.
Dame Jacqueline is hugely popular. According to an 2012 article by The Bookseller magazine, she is in the top five bestselling authors in Britain, her book sales had then topped £83 million.
Her Hetty Feather books, about the life of a foundling in Victorian London, are almost as in demand as the tales from the care home of Tracy Beaker, which were later made into a CBBC TV series.
The Butterfly Club is from neither series. It centres on Tina, a triplet who is the odd one out.
Split from her siblings at school Tina is paired with the class bully, but finds happiness while creating a butterfly garden in the school playground.
