Police are working to establish whether a body found on the beach near Scarborough is that of a missing York man.
Thomas Ducey, 57, was last seen at his home in Acomb on Monday, March 14.
On Saturday (March 19) police were called by a member of the public following the discovery of the body at Cayton Bay.
The family of Mr Ducey have been informed of the discovery.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the man and the circumstances that led to his death.
A police spokesperson said:
In the meantime, until we know for certain who the man is, enquiries into the disappearance of Mr Ducey remain ongoing.
His disappearance was said to be entirely out of character.
