Zoe lived in London before her move to York last September. It was when she left her job working on the interactive team for BBC Radios 1, 2 and 6 Music, that her sponge and icing portaiture came to the fore.
“As a parting shot for 6 Music I baked a cake of Jarvis Cocker’s face,” Zoe sad.
“I was just interested to see if I could do it really. I thought I’m known for baking in the office, I’m known for being obsessed with Jarvis – how about I mash those two things together?
“It went down really well.”
Now she has set herself a major fundraising goal – to make 30 FaceCakes of comedians to be sold at a bake sale for Comic Relief next Friday (March 13).
Zoe needs bakers to help her reach her target and make some serious cash with the funny fondant fizzogs.
“A few bakers have got on board. I need more, frankly,” she said. To commission a comedian cake or help with the baking, see the panel above.
Already York brewery Little Brew have commissioned a cake of Sheffield comic character John Shuttleworth – who will be fashioned from Yorkshire parkin.
