Man ‘sustains significant facial injuries’ in attack near Monk Bar

A man was attacked on his way home from York and sustained what police are calling ‘significant facial injuries’.

The victim was assaulted by an unknown man at about 11.40pm on Saturday, July 11.

It happened near to the crossroads separating Monk Bar and Monkgate.

A police spokesperson said:

We are conducting enquiries and are requesting the public’s assistance to help determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Detectives have released a description of the attacker:

The suspect is…

a white male
aged in his early to mid-20s
5ft 10ins tall
of medium build
with bleached blonde hair.
