Man suffers broken nose in late night York assault

A man has been left with a suspected broken nose after an assault in York city centre.

The incident took place on Friday (January 5) on Tanner Row.

Police were called at 2.25am to reports that a man had been assaulted and had sustained facial injuries.

The victim, a man in his twenties, was taken to hospital for treatment to cuts and a suspected broken nose.

The 29-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of assault and wounding. He remains in police custody at this time.

One resident told the York Press: “This morning there were pools of blood in Tanner Row. It’s like somebody’s had their throat cut.”

Anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police.
