Police today confirmed that a man died in the accident which saw roads closed off in York city centre on Sunday.
Officers were called to reports of a collision involving a grey Skoda Octavia and a pedestrian at about 2.30am on Sunday (9 February).
It happened at the junction of Station Road and Rougier Street.
Sadly the pedestrian, a man in his 30s from Leeds, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed until about 10.30am while emergency services worked at the scene.
Police are appealing for any witnesses – or anyone who has dashcam footage that may assist the investigation – to contact them.
