A man in his 20s who entered the River Foss over the weekend has died, police confirmed today.
Police were called to a report that a man was in the river at about 4pm on Saturday (July 21).
It was close to the Q-Park car park in Garden Place, York. He was pulled from the river by a member of the public and taken to York Hospital for treatment.
We reported on Sunday (July 22) that police were interviewing witnesses after the man was taken to hospital.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said today:

Sadly, the man, who was in his 20s and from York, died in hospital the following day.
We are not yet in a position to identify him. Enquiries are ongoing into how the man came to enter the river.
