Man attacked and knocked unconscious on York street

A man was knocked unconscious in an attack in the early hours of Sunday (May 20).

It happened at the junction of South Bank Avenue and Bishopthorpe Road around 4.45am.

The man, who was on his own, was attacked and left unconscious on the street.

He suffered minor lacerations to his face and chest. The victim attended York Hospital and has since been released.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information about the incident.
