A mugger fled empty handed after the man he attempted to rob fought back.
The man, aged 54, was walking to work along Huntington Road from the A1237 on Monday (December 7).
As he passed a gated farmer’s field at about 6.50am, he was approached from behind by a young man.
The robber, aged in his late teens, put a hand on his shoulder and told the man to give him his money and phone.
But he was having none of it. A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said:
The suspect has managed to get to his feet and has run off in an unknown direction.

Victim injured in the scuffle
The victim sustained two small scratches to his right hand knuckles and a large graze to his right cheek.
