There’s only one Lulu, and there’s only one place she’ll be on a special night next May – the York Barbican Centre.
The iconic powerhouse of a singer will play the Barbican on Thursday, May 14, 2015.
It’s part of her first solo UK tour for ten years, coinciding with her first album for a decade too.
The Grammy-nominated songwriter is currently writing and recording the album which, we are told, will showcase a return to her roots.
Lulu classics
Shout (1964)
To Sir, With Love (1967)
Boom Bang-a-Bang (1969)
The Man With the Golden Gun (1974)
I Could Never Miss You (More Than I Do) (1981)
Relight My Fire (with Take That – 1993)
Put A Little Love In Your Heart (2005)
Since her last UK tour, Lulu has played hugely successful club dates in the US and UK –including a sold-out gig at BB King’s in New York City – toured with Jools Holland and headlined the sold-out Here Come The Girls tours.
“I’ve always loved doing live gigs,” Lulu said.
“After performing at the legendary BB King’s NYC last year and now starting to record the album, I’m re-invigorated and ready to get back on the road again.
“Even before I ever had a hit record I was doing three or four live gigs each week. And recently I’ve had a renewed sense of purpose.
“I just feel a compulsion to make this new record and, because of that, the songs are just pouring out.
“My family always said I came into this world singing, and I’d be happy to go out of this world singing – but I have a lot more to say before that happens!”
Tickets for Lulu at York Barbican Centre are priced between £28.50 and £45. They go on sale on Friday, October 3, at 10am.
