“Postponing York Fashion Week has been an extremely difficult decision, given the amount of work people have put in but the health of the community remains our priority.”

That’s from founder and director of York Fashion Week Nicky Hayer. The week was due to start on Saturday.

Anyone who has purchased tickets will automatically receive a full refund within the next seven days.

Nicky added:

  • During these unprecedented times, we remain committed to local businesses and are working collaboratively with our partners to extend York’s fashion season.

We are in the process of putting together a package of measures designed to support our high street and ensure brands remain accessible through initiatives including the purchase of online vouchers, click and collect options and social media and communications advice.

I’d like to reassure our partners and local people that York Fashion Week will re-emerge as strong as ever at the appropriate time.

Organisers still intend to stage the York ethical fashion show, albeit behind closed doors with
the runway event being streamed live on 26 March for anyone to view.
