Wednesday update: Another coronavirus death at York Hospital – but infection rate falls

There was another Covid-19 related death at York Hospital and a further 80 coronavirus cases confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 28 October).

That takes the cumulative total to 3,537 – giving an overall infection rate of 1,679.3 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 521 positive Covid-19 tests in York – which is down by 167 (-24.3%).

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 271.6 new cases per 100,000 people (572 cases in the week to 24 October). That’s down from 302.0 in the previous seven days (636 cases in the week to 17 October).

At the University of York, there were 143 individuals self isolating due to a positive Covid-19 test today. Since the previous update on Tuesday it has been notified of 42 new cases, included in that figure.

At York St John University there were 34 people self isolating due to a positive test today.

In North Yorkshire, there were 244 new confirmed Covid-19 cases today, taking the cumulative total to 7,226 – an infection rate of 1,208.6 cases per 100K.

There are 403 cases in Ryedale (up 11), 1,166 in Selby (up 38), 2,189 in Harrogate (up 83), 1,010 in Hambleton (up 36), 1,242 in Scarborough (up 36), 637 in Richmondshire (up 12) and 823 in Craven (up 28).

There was one more coronavirus-related death reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today – at York Hospital.

That takes the total to 229. We don’t have an up-to-date breakdown of that figure between York and Scarborough Hospitals.
