Tuesday update: Another big increase in York coronavirus cases

Another 101 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 20 October).

That takes the cumulative total to 2,874 – giving an overall infection rate of 1,316.6 cases per 100,000 people.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 295.3 new cases per 100,000 people (622 cases in the week to 16 October). That’s up from 262.1 in the previous seven days (552 cases in the week to 9 October).

In the last seven days there have been 684 positive Covid-19 tests in York – which is up by 193 (39.3%).

At the University of York, there were 304 individuals self isolating due to a positive Covid-19 test today. That includes a further 44 new cases since the previous update at 12pm on Monday.

At York St John University there were 57 people self isolating due to a positive test today.

In North Yorkshire, there were 164 new confirmed Covid-19 cases today, taking the cumulative total to 6,134 – an infection rate of 992.5 cases per 100K.

There are 348 cases in Ryedale (up seven), 915 in Selby (up 20), 1,761 in Harrogate (up 41), 806 in Hambleton (up 26), 1,063 in Scarborough (up 19), 534 in Richmondshire (up 16) and 707 in Craven (up 35).

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total to 224. We don’t have an up-to-date breakdown of that figure between York and Scarborough Hospitals.
