Thursday update: 52 coronavirus cases confirmed in York as number of positive tests falls again

There was another Covid-19 related death at York NHS Trust and a further 52 coronavirus cases confirmed in York today (Thursday, 29 October).

That takes the cumulative total to 3,589 – giving an overall infection rate of 1,704 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 517 positive Covid-19 tests in York – which is down by 156 (-23.2%).

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 257.3 new cases per 100,000 people (542 cases in the week to 25 October). That’s down from 307.2 in the previous seven days (647 cases in the week to 18 October).

At the University of York, there were 117 individuals self isolating due to a positive Covid-19 test today. Since the previous update on Wednesday it has been notified of 27 new cases, included in that figure.

At York St John University there were 34 people self isolating due to a positive test on Wednesday.

In North Yorkshire, there were 160 new confirmed Covid-19 cases today, taking the cumulative total to 7,630 – an infection rate of 1,234.5 cases per 100K.

There are 411 cases in Ryedale (up eight), 1,192 in Selby (up 26), 2,247 in Harrogate (up 58), 1,033 in Hambleton (up 23), 1,264 in Scarborough (up 22), 651 in Richmondshire (up 14) and 832 in Craven (up nine).

There was one more coronavirus-related death reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today; we haven’t been able to ascertain whether it was at York Hospital or Scarborough.

That takes the total to 230. We don’t have an up-to-date breakdown of that figure between York and Scarborough Hospitals.
