Saturday update: Another coronavirus death in York NHS Trust and 69 new cases

There was another coronavirus-related death within the York NHS Trust reported today (Saturday, 24 October) – and a further 69 cases were confirmed in the city.

That takes the cumulative total to 3,260 cases in York – giving an overall infection rate of 1,547.8 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 705 positive Covid-19 tests in York – which is up by 114 (19.3%).

At the University of York, there were 250 individuals self isolating due to a positive Covid-19 test on Friday.

At York St John University there were 49 people self isolating due to a positive test on Thursday.

In North Yorkshire, there were 107 new confirmed Covid-19 cases today, taking the cumulative total to 6,726 – an infection rate of 1,088.3 cases per 100K.

There are 376 cases in Ryedale (up six), 1,044 in Selby (up 26), 1,930 in Harrogate (up 43), 887 in Hambleton (up 11), 1,145 in Scarborough (up nine), 587 in Richmondshire (up seven) and 757 in Craven (up five).

There was one more coronavirus-related death reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today. We don’t know at this stage whether it was at York Hospital or Scarborough.

That takes the total to 227. We don’t have an up-to-date breakdown of that figure between York and Scarborough Hospitals.
