We reported last night that the emergency services were called out to a potential river rescue in York.

North Yorkshire Police have got back to us to say the operation was in response to a distressed woman on a bridge over the River Foss, at 4.15pm on 14 January.

The force spokeswoman said: “The police and fire service attended the incident and the woman was taken to a place of safety.”
