Measures have been put in place to protect people who go to the York Crematorium.
The crematorium has always had hand sanitiser available. But it will be placed in more areas, including at the entrance.
And since the outbreak of coronavirus “additional deep cleaning takes place each morning including all door handles,” says David Walker, City of York Council head of customer and exchequer services.
His response came in reply to York councillor and funeral director Martin Rowley, who made the point that it is “one of the council’s establishments where more skin to skin contact happens than any other, given the nature of what you do. People shake hands, hug and kiss”.
