Monday update: 54 more coronavirus cases confirmed in York

Another 54 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Monday, 2 November).

This takes the cumulative total to 3,824 – giving an overall infection rate of 1,815.6 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 427 positive Covid-19 tests in York – which is down by 197 (-31.6%).

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 189.4 new cases per 100,000 people (399 cases in the week to 29 October). That’s down from 300.5 in the previous seven days (633 cases in the week to 22 October).

At the University of York, there were 89 individuals self isolating due to a positive Covid-19 test today. Since the previous update on Friday it has been notified of 11 new cases, included in that figure.

At York St John University there were 18 people self isolating due to a positive test on Sunday.

The latest R number for the healthcare region of North East and Yorkshire is estimated at 1.1 to 1.3 with a daily infection growth rate range of +2% to +5%.

In North Yorkshire, there were 197 new confirmed Covid-19 cases today, taking the cumulative total to 8,425 – an infection rate of 1,363.1 cases per 100K.

There are 452 cases in Ryedale (up ten), 1,334 in Selby (up 43), 2,502 in Harrogate (up 63), 1,150 in Hambleton (up 35), 1,380 in Scarborough (up 25), 709 in Richmondshire (up six) and 898 in Craven (up 15).

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 234. We don’t have an up-to-date breakdown of that figure between York and Scarborough Hospitals.

There were 31 hospital beds occupied by Covid-19 patients in the trust on 27 October, down from 35 the day before. One of these was a mechanical ventilator bed (the same as the day before).
