Another sign that the holiday season is well and truly behind us… York’s merry-go-round is being taken down today.
The carousel took over King’s Square throughout the Christmas period. During that time it took countless children (and a fair few adults) for a spin.
It was even used as a backdrop for the romcom Let There Be Love, which was filmed in the city before Christmas.
Not everyone was happy with the carousel arrangement. Street entertainers noted that it meant they would be unable to perform in the square for the whole of the holiday period.
They can now reclaim the space – but of course the festive holidaymakers have long since gone.
