Earlier today North Yorkshire Police said they would begin to stop cars to check where people were going.

The measures are to enforce the lockdown and stop the spread of coronavirus.

And if you don’t comply new powers mean you could be fined, be arrested and end up in court.

The message, York police tweeted, was clear: “North Yorkshire Police stopping vehicles to ensure motorists are complying with the restrictions and only making essential journeys. #StayHomeSaveLives”
