One of York’s top department stores has started trading again.

Fenwick, which has a store in Coppergate, has now reopened its online shop.

The business, which has its HQ in Newcastle, closed completely earlier in the coronavirus lockdown.

But now you can buy from them again via its website.

In a statement the company said: “We are now delighted to tell you that we have significantly altered the way in which orders are picked and packed so some of those colleagues who wish to return to work are able to do so, while adhering to the government guidelines and meeting the strict social distancing measures we all need to follow.

“There will only be small groups of people, who have volunteered to return, working on rotation to select your orders, so we can ensure their wellbeing and safety. We will be prioritising returns and outstanding orders first so deliveries of new orders may take a little longer than usual and we appreciate your patience.

“You can discover a selection of some of your favourite brands and ranges. Not everything is available as yet but we hope you enjoy choosing from this edit.

“We are continuing to work on bringing you more products to browse and shop, as and when it is safe to do so.”
