Police officer assaulted in York city centre

A police officer was assaulted in York over the Christmas break.

Police have issued CCTV of a man they would like to speak to following the violent incident in the city centre.

Officers are seeking assistance from the public after the officer was assaulted by a man on Sunday 29 December.

Police were dealing with an incident when they were approached by the man who went on to assault one of the officers.

Officers are asking members of the public to get in touch if they recognise the man in the images, as they believe he will have information that will help the investigation.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police.
