It also impressed the judges of the Food Porn Awards – who have shortlisted the dish for their 2018 honours.
The dish, Surf ’n’ Turf, was created by David Ormsby, head chef at Cut & Chase, the restaurant and cocktail bar on Goodramgate, York.
Now all we have to do is head to the website and get voting for it.

So what is Surf ’n’ Turf? It’s pan-seared scallops, braised pig cheek, crispy pancetta and dauphinoise potato puree.
“It is one of our very popular starter specials,” said Beverley Taylor of Cut & Chase.
“The guys at the Food Porn Awards follow us on Instagram and Twitter and invited us to enter. We love food and we love taking photos of our food.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have made the shortlist.”
Established in 2016, the Food Porn Awards aims to celebrate the best-looking food from across the North, with chefs encouraged to enter images of their most mouth-watering dishes.
Bring home the trophy
This year’s awards saw more than 350 entries from renowned chefs and newly opened establishments.
Only 30 were chosen by the judges to make it onto one of two Food Porn Award shortlists, fine dining and casual dining.
The six entries with the highest number of votes will go through to the final, where chefs recreate their dishes during a cook-off.
“Cut & Chase are the only York restaurant shortlisted in the category and it would be amazing if we could bring home the trophy,” Beverley told YorkMix.
“It’s all about the public vote now so hopefully the people in York will get involved and support us. It only takes a couple of minutes: just follow the link.”
The restaurant is a family affair – Beverley’s sons Wes and Joel Taylor opened it in May 2016.
