One of Yorkshire’s finest pub and beer companies is hoping to create a craft brewery close to York.
Pivovar wants to build the brewery at its premises on Station Yard, Elvington.
It already has brewing facilities at Sheffield and Leeds. But this would be different. Planning documents describe it as
-
a craft brewing company and test brewery – manufacturing ales and lagers, created using the traditional mashing techniques and the best available malted barley and hops.
New jobs
Pivovar began as a beer importer. And most of its lager production is brewed at a partner brewery in the Czech Republic which is then hauled to its Elvington facility.
More recently Pivovar invested in a nano test brewery within Spark:York on Piccadilly “so as to reduce its reliance on its Czech Brewery,” say planning documents.
“However it quickly became apparent that a bigger out of town facility was required.”
The brewery would create four new jobs and act as a training facility for the Pivovar brewing team in Sheffield and Leeds.
It would supply the company’s pubs, including Pivni, the York Tap, Pavement Vaults and Market Cat in York.
