Someone has put together the Ultimate Gin Crawl. And frankly, we think it’s time well spent.

This is said to be the definitive guide to the top gin bars in the UK.

It starts from St Ives in Cornwall, and wends its way across our nation to end up in Aberdeen.

Researchers from Activity Superstore discovered that the crawl can be completed in just under five days and would cost £1,428.89.

But the good news is you don’t have to travel at all to go on your own short gin crawl.

Because two of the bars are in the heart of York.

York’s gin champs

Circles Cafe & Gin Bar

Probably better known as a café, the Lendal Bridge venue now serves an impressive selection of gins.

It comes in at number 83 on the gin crawl. A house G&T at Circles clocks in at £6 and it says:

  • We are serving a selection of the finest hand-picked gins from around the world, complemented by a selected range of botanicals to excite the palette.

It won’t surprise any YorkMix readers that the Evil Eye is in the Guinness World Records for stocking the most number of gins (1,028).

The Stonegate bar, at number 84 on the UK gin crawl, has a house G&T for £8.50. It says:

  • Hidden behind our specialist gin shop you’ll find an escape from the norms of York and a place to relax.

Priciest G&Ts

Matt Davis of Activity Superstore described the Ultimate Gin Crawl map as “a fun way to explore some of the best specialty gin bars in the UK”

“We do not recommend drinking in all of the 100 gin bars in a short time period and we want to highlight that people must be responsible with their approach,” he said, by way of legal disclaimer.

Here are some of the facts the researchers discovered:

  • the most expensive G&T in the UK can be found at The Gin Palace in London – a standard measure is £14
  • the cheapest is at The Butcher and Tonic in Lancaster costing just £3.30
  • the most expensive in Yorkshire is at Gin Lane, Halifax: £11.75.
