One of York’s most highly rated cafés now has an ‘urban, fresh, bright little sister’.
Brew & Brownie, currently ranked number three for tea and coffee in York on TripAdvisor, has been joined by the Bakeshop.
They are found within yards of one another on Museum Street. But the newcomer has a very different feel.
The Brew & Brownie Bakeshop is more modern, with a stylish interior of whites, light greys and soft glow anglepoise lighting.
Food to go
Owner Gina Stancer said the newcomer had a different food offering too.
“While big brother Brew serves up awesome breakfasts and all-day brunches, the Bakeshop will have a high emphasis on food to go.
“It will feature the same quality local ingredients for those looking for a quick lunch, taking the goods home or to Museum Gardens.”
The Bakeshop offers salads and sandwiches, juices, soups, locally-baked Haxby bread breakfast goodies like pastries and cinnamon buns.
“There will also be the delicious raclette on the go, as we all know, there are very few things that aren’t made better covered with melted cheese!” said Gina.
Double the drinks
It also offers coffee lovers a choice too. Brew & Brownie will carry on serving the Extract Coffee Roasters Original blend while the Bakeshop offers Extract’s Dr Strangelove blend, a lighter taste.
Prices are £2.40 for an Americano and £2.70 for a latte.
Gina said the expansion allows them to add new items to the original Brew & Brownie menu.
“The new premises and space will also enable us to expand more of the outside catering and whole cake and brownie tray orders we receive,” she said.
“There will be retail space where you can buy coffee, teas, home baked pastries and breads as well as local artisan baker’s bread, cakes and lots of other interesting and delicious products.”
