If you’re dead on your feet, we’ve found the perfect place to chill.
York Dungeon is opening a bar.
The Clifford Street home of York’s horrible history has just created its own spooky boozer, Ye Olde Yorke Inn.
Due to open within a week or so, it will be one of the city’s more bijou bars, with room for about a dozen drinkers.
The Victorian-style tavern comes right at the end of the tour.
“The idea is to give our customers a place to steady their nerves and have a good old chill after their tour, and talk about their favourite bits,” said York Dungeon marketing exec Simon Alnaimi.
They started planning it last year. “London Dungeon have their own tavern, and it’s a great place for people to sit down once the tour’s over and spend a little bit more time in the dungeon.
“We wanted people to have that opportunity to enjoy more of our dungeon experience without having to leave immediately.”
As well as soft drinks, including iced slush for the kids, there is wine and themed Day Of The Dead beers from Mexico.
These are in bottles and cans as there’s no room for draught ale. There are also plans to add tea, coffee, cocktails and bar snacks in the future.
