With summer around the corner we’ll soon be doing our guide to the best beer gardens in York.
And it looks like the Golden Lion on Church Street might well be in for a shout this year.
The city centre pub closed this week for a big makeover, with its roof terrace a key part of the spruce-up. It will reopen in just over a week’s time.
A spokesman from pub group Greene King, which owns the Golden Lion, told YorkMix:
A selection of great British pub food will be available on our new exciting food menu.
We look forward to welcoming guests both new and old to the Golden Lion.
Party planned
The traditional pub serves a range of cask ales as well as classic pub grub like fish and chips, pie and mash and burgers.
It reopens on Friday, May 12 at 5pm. The team wrote on the Golden Lion Facebook page they were looking forward “to welcome you all to our ‘new’ pub with a relaunch evening with live music, new menu samples and our friendly team”
And there’ll be live music from The Mojos to keep the party going.
