The Environment Agency says Flooding is possible – So be prepared. It’s the lowest form of alert they issue and covers the usual places through York down to Naburn and Selby.
This flood alert remains in force as levels on the River Ouse were rising in response to Friday’s rainfall.
It will lead to flooding of low lying land, roads, footpaths and cycle paths in and around York
Friday Evening Update.
Very little further rise in levels is now expected, but the river will remain at around 2.6m overnight before starting to fall slowly on Saturday morning. Further heavy rainfall is expected over the weekend, and so it is likely that river levels will remain high for several days.
A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said “Please take care in areas in the vicinity of the river, in particular avoid those low lying footpaths.”
