Here’s what York’s newest supermarket looks like, inside and out.
The Food Warehouse has invested £750K in the 20,000 sq ft store at Clifton Moor, which opened today (Tuesday). Creating 30 new jobs, the store offers “all the great value of a wholesale store without the need for membership”, say bosses.
You can bulk buy long-lasting goods, alongside fresh and frozen foods.
There are more than 3,000 product lines to choose from. The store also runs ‘When it’s gone, it’s gone’ deals on a selection of homeware items.
Among the opening bargains at the York store are:
- a 5kg pack of chicken breast fillets for £19.99 / £4 per kilo
- a 36 pack of Walkers variety crisps for £3.99 / 11p per bag
- a 24 pack of Pepsi Max 330ml cans for £5.99 / 25p a can.
The shop also features a ‘No Bull’ vegan range.
Great opening day
Operations director for The Food Warehouse Kristian Barrett said they were delighted to get the York store up and selling.
“The Food Warehouse is an innovative store format, responding to the changing needs of shoppers by offering amazing bulk-buy deals and homeware offers alongside a fantastic range of frozen, fresh and chilled foods,” she said.
The York store manager Stuart West Wilson added: “Our opening day has been a great success and the whole team has really enjoyed meeting people from our local community.”
Every customer who visited the store was entered into a free prize draw to be in with a chance of winning a great selection of prizes, including home appliances.
Launched just five years ago, The Food Warehouse now has more than 100 stores across Britain.
