A man has been rescued from the River Ouse.

Fire crews from York, Acomb and Huntington responded to reports of a man in the river in difficulty, near to Lendal Bridge, at about 4.40pm on Saturday (November 15).

The man was rescued by firefighters in the water rescue boat “in the nick of time”, said a spokesperson

He was then taken to the river bank where he was given first aid prior to being handed to the care of paramedics, suffering the effects of hypothermia.

It is probable that he will be taken to hospital and his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
