Do you know this man?
The police e-fit shows a man suspected of attacking a Spanish couple in York.
The attack, described at the time as “sickening and vicious”, took place in the St Helen’s Square area after the couple left Blue Fly Café Bar on New Street at about 4am on Sunday, April 5.
Five or six men attacked the tourists in what police describe as a “racially aggravated assault”. The only reason for targeting them seems to be that they are from another country.
They repeatedly punched and kicked the man, who is aged 24, for ten minutes.
He suffered a broken jaw, chipped teeth and bruising. He is now recovering following treatment at York Hospital.
His girlfriend, aged 29, was repeatedly pushed to the ground while he was being attacked.
It is believed the only reason the suspects stopped the violence was because a passing taxi driver came to the couple’s assistance.
