Talk about fast food…
Rubber-burning race venue York Motorsports Village wants to open a fish and chip take-away and restaurant.
The Monks Cross venue is next to the new York Community Stadium complex, due to open next year – and its owners sense an opportunity.
“Restaurant and take-away retailers are proving successful in this business park, and with the new Community Sports Stadium underway, the market for food retail will naturally grow,” they say in a planning application to City of York Council.
Two-storey extension
York Motorsports Village is North Yorkshire’s only indoor karting circuit.
It has always offered refreshments to competitors and their families but this application would take things up a level.
The plans envisage a two-storey extension to the Kathryn Avenue building.
This would include a 52-seater restaurant on the first floor and a take-away servery on the ground floor, with proposed opening hours of 8am-11pm daily.
The restaurant windows would overlook the new stadium. And the plans ensure full accessibility via ramps and a new lift.
