York Proms 2019
Sun Jul 14 @ 5.00 pm - 10.30 pm£11 – £85
York has a number of festivals each year, which incorporate music, arts, food, comedy and more. However, York didn’t have its very own summer proms event, which is a central feature of the entertainment calendar for many other towns and cities. In 2016, steps were taken to put that right! After months of groundwork, The York Proms team announced the date and venue for the first York Proms; Sunday 9th July 2017 in York’s Museum Gardens.
Following two very successful events, the York Proms picnic concert returns to the beautiful Museum Gardens on Sunday 14th July for a flag-waving night of popular classics, rounded off with a fireworks finale.
The event has already raised over £16,000 for the York Museum Trust and aims to raise even more this year, along with two other designated charities, York Inspirational Kids and The Wilberforce Trust.
To kick off the event we will have a number of local acts on our community stage, including;
The Bev Jones Music Company
Lucy’s Pop Choir
There is a brand new orchestra, specially formed for the York Proms, under the direction of Ben Crick, former BBC Music Fellow who works internationally with big names like Lesley Garrett and Emma Kirky. The musicians are top orchestral players who have performed with prestigious orchestras such as the Halle Orchestra.
If you don’t have time or inclination to pack your own picnic, rest assured there are lots of great options for food and drink once you’re there! Not only do these caterers look great and suit the vintage feel of the York Proms, but they also offer delicious food and drink as well.
Once again, The Fireworkers will provide a sensational, colourful end to the event with a fireworks finale!
Bring your flags, pack a picnic, grab your deckchair and see you there!
