We love playing in new places. I mean, sure, there’s that initial anxiety of not knowing where the toilet is, but once we’re over that, we love it! And what a pleasure to play in this little gem of a pub in the East End of York.
Saunter through the hipster-hub of Fossgate and you’ll find yourself in the old, authentic east side of the city. Nestled next to fancy new-builds housed in the old Yorkshire Evening Press building, you’ll find The Spread Eagle – a good old-fashioned pub with a great musical heritage. In fact, Adam played his first public gigs here, at the tender age of 12, sitting in with The Beatroots doing their legendary Sunday afternoon gigs here, the hazy sunlight beaming through the cigarette smoke (it was the 90s!). The pub has changed a bit since then (the toilets used to be upstairs by the way!), and music is now at the back of the pub in a purpose-made area and this will be an absolute treat for Beatles fans.
Lovely comfy sofas you can lose yourself in, an eclectic range of drinks and a lovely man called Kev who will serve them to you. We’ll add the Beatles songs and you’ll feel as though you’re in the Jacaranda circa 1962! See you there!
