The Darling Buds of May Be
Thu May 16
Thurs 16 May @ 1pm, 3pm and 5pm
Has the science of love made us unlovable? A 21st century sonneteer, accompanied by a flautist, update relationship practice as laid down by Shakespeare’s sonnets.
Sly, playful, Petra Reid recasts the Bard’s rhyme schemes in a response that skewers and skews reproduction, celebrity and consumption. Voice and flute shake their darling buds across centuries. Let’s get metafizzical, fizzical!
Each performance lasts thirty minutes- perfect for a lunchtime visit, a sneaky afternoon off work, or a little bit of love before teatime. All tickets are pay-what-you-feel. Book in advance, or just turn up on the day!
Part of the York International Shakespeare Festival.
