October Half Term at The National Railway Museum
Sat, October 24 – Sun, November 1
Visit a museum that moves you this October half term. Return for your favourite activities, including our Miniature Railway and Pop-up Science shows—in which we explore delicious topics such as what marshmallows can tell us about tunnelling.
Admission is free, and tickets must be booked online in advance—be quick, though, we’re expecting this to be a sell-out week.
EXPLORE OUR MIGHTY COLLECTION…
…of world-class locomotives, from the record-breaking Mallard to the revolutionary Rocket.
The scaled-down passenger service will be back up and running on selected days. You’ll be able to book your tickets at the museum on the day.
Our outdoor play area is back open, and we are reopening the under-5s play area inside Great Hall, too.
POP-UP SCIENCE DEMOS
Monday to Friday, 11.00–15.00
What can marshmallows tell us about tunnelling? What do eggs and bridges have in common? Find out in our live Pop-up Science demonstrations.
Book ahead to re-live Mallard’s record-breaking run on our exciting simulator ride.
Travel between the museum and the centre of York in style on our Road Train. Tickets will be available from the ticket desk near the museum entrance.
Need a break while you explore our enormous museum? Our cafés are open, with plenty of food and drink to keep you going.
Since we reopened in August we’ve made some changes to keep your visit safe and enjoyable, including free, timed admission tickets to manage visitor numbers. Make sure you book your free admission tickets in advance as we expect to be fully booked.
