Howlin’ Ric and The Rocketeers

Tue Apr 23 @ 8.00 pm - 11.00 pm

The Fulford Arms and One For The Road presents, for the first time in York, a full band performance of…

Howlin’ Ric and The Rocketeers

Music doesn’t get much sweeter than this.

Howlin’ Ric and The Rocketeers come from Leeds. The savvy gig goer will spot members of Leeds rockabilly/punk stalwarts X-Ray Cat Trio in this band, but their drumming beatmaster Ric takes the lead in this group. He’s got an excellent silky golden voice, that is applied to some seriously slick, master-level rockabilly music. Whilst being impeccably performed, the music still has the rustic honesty that you would expect from rockabilly, but this stuff is delivered with an air of professionalism, that you will struggle to find in most other rockabilly groups. Expect to hear a lot about Howlin’ Ric in the future for sure.

In the band’s own words:
“Howlin’ Ric & the Rocketeers have built up an explosive set of original music with tracks such as “Take That Bottle” which would not sound out of place in the Sun Records Studio. Equally “Take My Hand” has all the Rhythm & Blues qualities of a Chess Records track. However the signature sound of Howlin’ Ric & the Rocketeers can be heard in the tracks “Cannonball” and “If I Didn’t Care” which the stylings of The Johnny Burnette Trio and Eddie Cochran can be heard along with a Little Richard inspired vocal performance.”
