Heritage Open Days Festival

Each September thousands of volunteers across the country invite you to experience local history, architecture and culture. All for free.

This year’s festival will run 13-22 September. What will you discover?!

All Saint’s Church, Holme on Spalding Moor
Market Weighton Road, Holme on Spalding Moor, YORK, North Yorkshire, YO43 4ED

This medieval church will be open for visitors to look round. You will be able to climb the tower to look at the Saxon carving and see the magnificent views of the Vale of York (including York Minster on a clear day).

All Saints’ Church Heritage Weekend

Visitors can visit our beautiful, ancient (pre-Conquest foundation) church and look around, accompanied by one of the church members on duty or unaccompanied. Refreshments (tea/coffee and biscuits) available to visitors

Celebration of Glen allotments, Glen park and Mosaic garden in York

Fishergate Postern Tower

Look round this largely unmodernised 500 year old tower with volunteers to help. You can climb the narrow spiral staircase to the rooms on 3 floors with a garderobe, mullioned windows, timber roof, battlements, look-out tower and mason’s marks.

St Lawrence Churchyard

St Lawrence Church York will be open to visitors and in the Churchyard Old St Lawrence Tower will be open to see inside – guided tours of the Churchyard will be available and inside the Church a display on the planned St Lawrence Churchyard project.
Saturday 14 September: Open 10:00 – 14:00. Also ten minute tours at 10:30, 11:00, 11:30, 12:30, 13:00 and 13:30.


Treasurer’s House

Treasurer’s House was the first house to be donated with it’s full collection to the Trust in 1930. Wander through a house of contradictions and marvel at the award winning garden with breathtaking views. Free Ghost cellar and Attic tours available.

York Glaziers Trust studio tour

Go behind the scenes at York Glaziers Trust, Britain’s oldest and largest specialist stained glass conservation studio and learn about its work to conserve York Minster’s medieval windows.
