Behind the Scenes Tour: Unveiling the Secrets of Fairfax House
Tue, September 8 @ 10.00 am – Sat, October 3 @ 4.00 pm
Glimpse behind the scenes at Fairfax House on an exclusive tour exploring the townhouse as never seen before. Entering in style through the original double doors, you’ll see the house in a partially undressed conservation state. As well as discovering its fascinating history and conservation journey from 1760 to the present day, we’ll lead you around the nooks and crannies normally hidden from public view – including stunning views from our attic! As part of the tour, you will also get the unique opportunity to handle some of the treasures not normally on display, and see priceless pieces of furniture opened up to reveal their secret uses and sumptuous interiors.
A unique and hands-on experience for all historic house fans. The cost of each ticket also goes towards the long term conservation of Fairfax House for future generations.
Tours run from 10am-11am and 3pm-4pm. Tours are only being offered for up to 6 people, made up of two households and/or bubbles, to ensure the safety of staff and visitors and allow for social distancing. Tours last approximately 1 hour and require face masks to be worn.
On multiple occasions the tour will involve climbing narrow and steep stairs, a spiral staircase and negotiating tight spaces.
