Issued by City of York Council
Essential road improvement works will be carried out during next week to improve the road surface on Heslington Lane.
The aim of the scheme is to use a material known as micro asphalt to form a new sealed surface to the carriageway. This restores skid resistance quickly with minimal disruption to the carriageway user. The works are expected to take three days to complete subject to weather conditions.
As with any construction work, there will be disruption and inconvenience, and everything reasonably possible will be done to minimise the impact. Drivers and cyclists are asked to bear this in mind when planning their journey times and route.
Work will be carried out under a full road closure for safety reasons and a signed diversion will be in place during the works. Bus stops within the area of the works will not be in use during the period of construction, please ring 01904 551400 for bus route information.
In order to carry out the work as effectively and efficiently as possible the constructors would be grateful if drivers could refrain from parking on Heslington Lane. Residents are also asked to ensure that cars are removed from their driveway before 8am should they wish to use the vehicle while work is carried out adjacent to properties. If residents need to gain access to your property at any time during this process, they can ask a member of staff on site for assistance.
The Contractor carrying out the work will be Colas who will be responsible for public safety and providing access while the work is being carried out. Normal working hours will be between 8am and 5pm and City of York Council will be supervising the works on site.
